Temperature vs Density

Post by thanulee » 29 Nov 2017, 19:47

Hi, sorry to ask this fundamental stuff, but im a bit confused on how those 2 interact. I can use temperature to drive everything so far, and i was wondering what is the difference with density? And how do i determine the amount of each channel? I saw in an example scene temperature 1 and density 2 and didnt understand why. Any help appreciated!! cheers

Temperature is what will drive the buoyancy and will make density rise, as well as anything else such as fuel which has not ignited. If you add a spherical emitter with density but no temperature the density will just sit there and dissipate. Add temp and the density will rise. If you use fuel instead of density you have the option to control the heat generated when it burns. Have a look at my intro as i cover this.

Thanks a lot! I bought ur course is very helpful, though this fundamental concept of things in tfd and in general in fluids is a bit confusing for me and its very important to understand it well to move on :)

It is like quantum mechanics..no one understands it, not even Jascha. You feel it. Jascha gives us the tools but.. I seek the rule maker. Sorry a bit ripped.

Cool thanks a lot. One last question since u are here, cause i dont find ppl to ask about tfd in general hehe. Scene/objects scale, is it important in tfd? I find myself many times using unrealistic scales cause of RealFlow that i use inside c4d and i was wondering if TFD can play ball along with that. Thanks a lot!

it works on real world scales but that is not something to get to concerned with. Low res sims will allow you to quickly see if it "looks" right and at the end of the day it is all smoke and mirrors

Don't forget you can render HW previews using the preview shading
