How do I make a spherical "poof" of smoke?

Hey there! Im new here.

I’m trying to make a spherical poof of smoke that bursts outward in all directions and then dissipates quickly and disappears. This seems like it should be pretty straightforward but I just cant get it to happen. All the tutorials online seem to be constant plumes of smoke. Could somebody point me in the right direction here?

Im rendering with Octane as well.

Add an emitter to a small sphere and key-frame the density on and off for 2 or 3 frames. Add temperature to the emitter as well as density

To make it burst outward also set a positive value in the emitter’s Force/Pressure parameter.

Using a sphere object has the issue of emitting from polygons which make it tricky to get a smooth effect. Using fuel which auto ignites and creates density will help and add some expansion to the fuel. You could use a spherical particle emitter as well as an alternative.
