As per my ramblings in the thread quoted can I assume vdb will be the default output ? It is certainly faster to render when using a RS volume object than using a shader on the TFD container Sharp defined fire in Redshift?
Reactions can cache directly to VDB and it’s a single checkbox to enable it.
However, it might not become the default because writing VDBs is notably slower than writing Reactions’ cache files. Thus, an alternative workflow is to use Reactions cache files while iterating on the simulation setup and then export the entire sequence to VDB with a single click, when you want to switch to working on the render.
